Come to Trout Point Lodge in southwestern Nova Scotia to explore the world of wine. These three-day, two-night programs will introduce participants to the fundamental knowledge of wine appreciation. Learn how to not only enjoy, but also describe, appreciate, & celebrate fine wine with leading wine experts amidst the relaxing milieu of Trout Point Lodge, the most renowned culinary destination in Atlantic Canada with a 120+ selection wine list. Your instructors excel at the appreciation of wine and wine with food and have lived and studied in Spain, France, and through the Society of Wine Educators.


Wine Seminar Level One:  May 25-27, 2007
Three-day, two-night program includes accommodation at Trout Point Lodge, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, all meals, and wine classes with tastings. Each day of the course includes  a half-day of instruction, allowing for free time to enjoy Trout Point Lodge, a wilderness resort in southern Nova Scotia.

Day One: Welcome and Introduction to Wine, Grapes, and Winemaking; 1st Wine Tasting.

Day Two: Wines of the World; 2nd Wine Tasting.

Day Three: Creating Your Own Wine Collection; 3rd Wine Tasting & Lunch

Price: $699 per person (double occupancy). The class begins around 3 pm on the first day and ends with lunch on the third day. All meals, double occupancy accommodation, wine tastings, and instruction included. 


Bordeaux Wine Seminar:  May 18-20, 2007
Three-day, two-night Bordeaux Wine program includes accommodation at Trout Point Lodge, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, all meals, and wine classes, including tasting of a variety of Bordeaux vintages. Each day of the course includes a half-day of instruction, allowing for free time to enjoy Trout Point Lodge and the beauty of southern Nova Scotia.

Day One: The History & Culture of Bordeaux Wine; 1st Wine Tasting.

Day Two: The Classifications & Appelations; 2nd Wine Tasting.

Day Three: What Makes Bordeaux Special; 3rd Wine Tasting.

Price: $799 per person (double occupancy)  including all wine tastings & all meals (wine ordered with meals extra). The class begins around 3 pm on the first day and ends with lunch on the third day.


Spanish Wine Seminar: June 15-17, 2007

The weekend program will expose participants to the major Spanish wine regions including Rioja, Jerez & Montilla, Penedes, Priorato, Catalunya, and Rueda. The class will also learn basic Spanish wine terminology and compare French and Spanish wines.

Day One: The Sudden Ascendance of Spanish Wine; 1st Wine Tasting: Rioja

Day Two: The Major Spanish Wine Regions & Understanding the D.O.s: 2nd Wine Tasting: The Northeast

Day Three: The Generosos & Cavas: The Sherries and Sparkling Wines; 3rd Wine Tasting

Price: $749 per person (double occupancy)  including all wine tastings & all meals (wine ordered with meals extra). The class begins around 3 pm on the first day and ends with lunch on the third day.


 
Your Instructors: Vaughn Perret and Charles Leary have lived in Bordeaux, France and Andalusia, Spain. They also teach wine at the Mediterranean Cooking School, and have taken courses through the Society of Wine Educators, the Italian Sommeliers Association, and the Wine Spectator School. They have designed wine programs for three restaurants, including Trout Point Lodge's Dining Room.
